SLIDING DOORS

Custom Aluminum Sliding Doors

Sliding doors move along the frame rather than swinging into the room. Explore our thermal-break, non-thermal-break and ultra-slim catalogue options, then discuss the panel layout and operating mechanism for your project.

For importers, distributors, contractors, project buyers and homeowners planning custom aluminum windows.

FAQ

Before we begin.

A few things to know before you start your window and door inquiry.

What is the difference between sliding and lift-and-slide doors?

A lift-and-slide mechanism lifts the moving panel as part of its opening action; conventional sliding doors use a different operating arrangement. Our YSS128C, YSS193C, YSS156C and YSS250C catalogue entries are labeled sliding / lift-and-slide. Identify the mechanism you need so it can be confirmed in the proposed configuration.

Which of your sliding door ranges are thermal-break?

The catalogue identifies YSS128C, YSS193C, YSS156C, YSS250C, YSS138A, YSS168A and the YKL150A door entry as thermal-break. YSS100A, YSS128A, YSS150A and YSS205A are listed as non-thermal-break. The ultra-slim entry should be discussed separately because its frame-construction details are not stated in the published selection table.

How many tracks and moving panels can I choose?

Send the intended panel count and mark the panels that should move. Track and panel combinations must be checked against the selected series and overall opening. The product name alone does not confirm a two-track, three-track or all-moving-panel layout.

What is the maximum sliding door size?

There is no single maximum that can be applied to all the listed systems. Send the overall frame dimensions and intended panel arrangement; glass, panel weight, hardware and project requirements need to be considered together. We will discuss the proposed size for the selected configuration.

Will the full width open?

The clear passage depends on the tracks, fixed panels and moving-panel arrangement. Mark the clear opening you need on your drawing. It should be reviewed as a separate requirement from the overall frame width.

Can I specify double glazing or another glass build-up?

The series table lists the catalogue glass build-up where available. Include a different glass requirement in your inquiry, including thicknesses and any coating or cavity specification you already know. Compatibility with the chosen frame and operating system must be reviewed.

Can I request a low threshold or an insect screen?

Include both requirements in the initial inquiry. Threshold details need to be considered with access and drainage, while a screen must fit the intended panel layout. Neither option should be assumed to be included across every sliding series.

What should a distributor send for a sliding door quotation?

Provide the series or operating type, a size-and-quantity list, panel arrangements, glazing and finish requirements, and destination. If you are comparing multiple configurations, put them on separate lines so the alternatives remain clear in the quotation.
